Spirit, Soul, and Body: The Universal Call to Contemplation
Brother David Steindl-Rast & Cyprian Consiglio
The call to contemplation and mystical depth is the heart of every spiritual tradition. Contemplative living means life in fullness for every person, not only for the "professional religious." This workshop aims at helping participants explore the personal implications of this dimension of life and so find true joythe happiness that does not depend on what happens.
Both Cyprian and David are Benedictine monks and pioneers in the dialogue between East and West. In an easy, playful way they weave together meditation, music, and chanting, sacred reading, and prayer into a rich texture of experience. Periods of teaching alternate with discussions prompted by questions from participants.
This weekend is designed to appeal to the whole person, spirit, soul, and bodythree aspects we need to integrate at all times to come fully alive. The Esalen environment makes it easy to experience this integral aliveness and to delight in it; but the goal is to take its joy back home into one's everyday life.
