Being busy at work is a good thing. It brings energy and confidence to all aspects of one's life. But too much busyness can quickly knock us out-of-balance. We get tugged down unnecessary channels because of our unfettered involvement in situations. Then, connections to iimportant people deteriorate; we lose control of our time; work-life balance slips, and performance drops off.
We may even tell ourselves that we have to get even busier. Fighting to retrieve our precious moments of detachment is the answer, even though it can feel like fixing a car while it's speeding along. It's the ANE leader's way.
Rather than letting external events drive us nuts, we place our trust in our essential core, our spiritual center, to guide us from a more calm, confident, and connected place. This means preserving the moments when we make that connection, such as when we silently affirm or pray, or talk with our ANE daily partner, or use our ANE tools.
Here's a one minute precious moment exercise to try this week: Relax and imagine | you are looking through a window as each person you lead or serve passes the other side of the window. As each person passes, one at a time, ask yourself: How do I rate the quality of our relationship? Let your intuition guide you from there. Don't forget that anything you can do to improve the connection may mean less busyness for you.
