It's self-evident that in order to improve things we have to be willing to start doing some things differently and better. Driven by our circumstances, we see clearly enough where we need to get to, but all too often it seems like we don't even get to the starting line.
Our rationalizations, like thinking that we are already too committed, lurk between our good intentions and doing something to get going. So how do we increase our chances of getting to the starting line?
The answer lies in how we approach our circumstances. When we start feeling that we must have all the control, it feels like things will end up controlling us. And when we start by letting go of control, new things emerge. We become more able to engage our inner core, our spiritual self, and to create a pathway which is more calm, confident and connected for all concerned - including ourselves. Willingness to change is not a passive attitude. It requires us to work at getting out of our own way.
This week, when you see that you need to change, don't grab, let go.

PS: If ANE's ideas are helping you at work, would you be interested in a deeper learning experience? We are considering holding some face-to-face or online small group certification classes around the core leadership tools. It's early days, but if you have interest, please let me know and I'll send more details so you can help shape the program.
