The more we stay well-balanced in our leadership moments the better off we are. But when our negative responses get triggered, that calm, confident, connected feeling can be so hard to sustain. We end up making poor decisions and, even worse, we know it. We sense our spiritual wheel is wobbling, but the time and space we need to get ourselves righted gets crowded out.
One way to regain our spiritual momentum is by connecting with somebody. By reaching out to someone we trust, even if it's only briefly, we can straighten out the wobbling and quickly become centered again.
This week, tell on yourself whenever you lose your balance. Pick someone you trust and who knows you well, and call them. Tell them the specifics: where and when you went out of balance, what you did, and what part you played in what happened. By taking a break and listening in humility you invite a far greater power to help you. And some of that wonderful Calm, Confident, Connected feeling is restored.
