Corporate Communications NetworkYoung Hub cable firm takes on phone giantBoston Herald McCourt Cable & Communications, Inc., which brought cable television to Boston, announced the opening of a new unit yesterday that’s intended to give AT&T a run for its money. The creation of McCourt Advanced Network Systems will be one of the first attempts by an information network company to provide clients with a full-service information source. “We’re talking about a much more sophisticated company than the civilized and traditional world of the phone company,” said President David McCourt, who formed the McCourt Communications Group in 1982. McCourt said Advanced Networks Systems would provide clients like financial institutions or large universities with all of their information needs, from designing and building the system to maintaining and repairing them. “People who rely on manipulation voice, video and data in a cost effective way will now be able to deal with just on company,” said McCourt. McCourt, who estimates the firm will have 1988 revenues of about 12 million, said that the company will have no problems getting clients because of its connection to McCourt Communications.
