Corporate Communications NetworkCalling the futureThe Boston Ledger: Vol. 40. NO 10 What began nearly 100 years ago as a public utility construction and engineering company is branching further into the communication field by specializing in fiber optic network systems. David McCourt- known as the man who brought cable television to Boston-is poised to break AT&T’s hold on the communications market by offering clients an integrated architecture to connect communications hardware and applications via fiber optics networks. The system, known as the McCourt Advanced Network Systems (MANS), is designed to provide clients with a full-service information source. Although the company does not market specific hardware, it has access to leading vendors so each client’s communications network can be designed specifically to suit the needs of that client. The fiber optics used by MANS are made from spun lass and are lighter and more reliable than traditional copper technology. Boston native, David McCourt, the president and CEO of Advanced Network Systems, formed McCourt Cable and Communications in 1982. Since that time he has joined the boards of many prominent non-profit agencies, especially ones involved in creating and providing housing, educational and business opportunities. He received President Reagan’s Private Sector Initiatives Commendation for community service work as well as one of Boston’s Ten Outstanding Leaders awards. Back to Corporate Communications Network
