Calm, Confident, Connected
How is it going for you this week in leading by example? Yesterday, I had a practical experience that I'd like to share. I was sitting with a client, and having a hard time thinking through a complex situation. At some point, I began inwardly criticizing myself for not coming up with a good answer. Soon after, I could feel my negativity starting to lead our conversation in the wrong direction.
Wanting to lead by example I recalled one of the phrases about being a spiritually intentional leader: Start by just being aware that a greater spiritual power than you is available. So I simply let go to that greater power. Within seconds a better pathway came to mind.
"Hold it, rather than struggling and rushing to produce a poor solution, let's ask where we can find the best solution," I said. "Any ideas where we can look?"
"Well, my colleague up the corridor had the same issue last month," said my client, "let's go ask her what she learned." So we did. And it was all we needed.
Spiritual intentionality works! I'm grateful.
