What does it mean for you to feel a really deep connection to the people you work with? Not some fleeting passing discussion where mix-ups happen, but conversations where you know with certainty that what you have to say is heard at their deepest place. Would you be energized by the greater sense of trust? Would your job feel more like it's really worth it?
This sense of being deeply connected to people stems from your connection with yourself. When you clear away your mental clutter, calm your inner chitchat, and become wholly present, people pick up that you are available for them. They start responding accordingly. The upward spiral of understanding begins. Trust rapidly spawning trust. Commitment building on commitment. Nothing to do with the length or location of the conversation but everything to do with truth and one person choosing to find his or her deep inner connection. That's the real leader. Is it you?
When you lead this week, start in the ANE leader way. Try saying to yourself: This is not about me, it's about them. Then stay in that frame of mind as the deeper connection unfolds.
