I hope the year has started well for you. It takes no time at all to get re-absorbed into all the busyness of work, doesn't it?
Don't forget that there's a fantastic resource available at your job this week. One that can keep you calm, confident, and connected in any circumstance. I'm talking about your spiritual center, your essential core, the timeless distillation of you into the wonderful leader you know you can become. When you take time to recognize, honor and respect this part of you, better things happen. (And when you also take time to recognize, honor, and respect it in others, even better things than that happen.)
How do we put this into practice? If we're constantly consumed with situations where we have to react, diagnose and solve problems, how can we simultaneously stay attentive to keeping a peaceful, powerful and confident inner core?
The answer lies in the spiritual strategies we choose as we deal with situations. If we believe we are alone, we will tend to become isolated; or if we believe "I have to have all the right answers", our approach risks losing balance and objectivity; or if we believe our people are never good enough, we will spot their mistakes more than encourage their growth.
But if we simply open up our strategies to the amazing spiritual power that is with us and greater than us, our fears are calmed, and our ideas are imbued with far greater faith, balance, self-confidence, trust, creativity, determination, mutual respect, caring, support, ........And, for sure, it's those strategies that lead to better outcomes all round.
One of my personal spiritual strategies is to feel the strength I get from sharing my workplace spiritual experiences with others in the ANE community. I'm sharing my preparation for tough leadership moments on Twitter each day (@ANewEquilibrium). On Thursday, thanks to an ANE colleague, I read this quote from Erik H. Erikson which inspired me all day long.
"In truth we are called to become more and more human; we must discover the freedom to go beyond limits imposed on us by our world and seek fulfillment."
This week, go beyond your limits and seek fulfillment...... and share what you learn. (You can add to this conversation at our LinkedIn Group: A New Equilibrium.)
