"I've been trying to build an alliance with the X company, but their VP keeps changing the goalposts," said Ally, one of my directors. "This has been dragging on for months. Frankly, I don't trust him. We may need to look at alternatives."
It's tough to be out there, taking a stand and not being sure it's right. The numbers say yes, but your gut says no."
"Trust your intuition, Ally", I said. "Never partner with someone you wouldn't have to dinner with your family."
Trust, especially trusting yourself, is fundamental to living your spirituality in the workplace. Be worthy of your own trust. I remember a poster that hung in every sales office in our company that said "Don't cheat the man in the mirror." Be honest and keep your promises to yourself. Check in with yourself. Are your thoughts and actions based on love, joy and generosity or greed, hate and jealousy? You'll know.
