How do you picture your sphere of influence? Do you feel it's large enough to get you what you need?
Many people say theirs is not large enough, especially during periods of change in career or job. They believe what they need lies with others they may not even know. The problem is that they equate influence with control and believe only more control can resolve things. Their lack attitude creates a self-defeating downward spiral that goes nowhere and adds even more stress.
I prefer to think of my sphere of influence in spiritual terms. I see God's power everywhere, especially as a connection between me and everyone else. When I let that thought really sink in, it strikes me as simply amazing. The calm, confident, connected sense I feel is not from control but from faith, trust, hope and dedication to the truth.
There's no better antidote to the downward spiral than simply stopping and getting into the "infinite sphere of influence" state of mind. From that place the ideas, the goals, the people, the growth, the resources and the results for me and my team are always within our grasp.
At A New Equilibrium we believe that harnessing our belief in God or spirituality provides access to resources that help us drive business results.
