Being spiritually connected at my inner core means I'm operating at my best. I find greater calm and confidence. There's this deeply satisfying sense of completeness. People at work respond more positively. Greater trust and productivity are the downstream results, especially in a group setting.
Here's a new definition of leadership: Helping grow and sustain this sense of completeness - in the individuals and the organization - so that maximum performance is sustained.
Do you have "warring factions" where you work, or perhaps you're in a "sweat shop", or "too silo'd" or "with a benevolent dictator?" That's how we describe businesses where leaders fail to sustain the sense of completeness. Disunity, wasted effort, and ethical problems are the result. What gets publicized is just the tip of the iceberg.
There are new kinds of leadership tools emerging. They are inner core focused but religious dogma sensitive. They complement and turbo-charge existing management approaches by equipping leaders with the most powerful tools they need.
