Three Year Roots Series ends with Final Class and Retreat
The final session of the three year Roots of Christian Mysticism Series will take place on Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a presentation by Fr. Cyprian Consiglio, OSB Cam, entitled The Universal Call to Contemplation - Bede Griffiths and Abhishiktananda. The class will be a stand alone class, but will also be part of a weekend retreat on the same topic.
Fr. Cyprian is a Benedictine monk of the New Camaldoli Hermitage in Big Sur, California, where he serves as Prior. A musician, spiritual teacher and scholar of spiritual traditions, Fr. Cyprian has given retreats and conferences around the world, and has published numerous collections of original sacred, world and liturgical music, as well as books and articles. Based on the pioneering work of English Benedictine Bede Griffiths, and his predecessor, Abhishiktananda, the French Benedictine formerly known as Fr.Henri LeSaux, Fr. Cyprians teaching incorporates the best of Eastern philosophy and practice with Western spirituality, toward Christian Mysticism of the 21st century, and aimed at the whole person - spirit, mind and body. In addition to teaching, the retreat will also include discussion and meditation.
The Saturday session, and the retreat will be held at the Dominican Spirituality Center, 6501 Alameda Road at Holcombe, Houston, TX 77021. Saturday session only is $25 at the door. The retreat rate for commuters is $125. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.
