When someone takes and does not give, how do we respond?  How do we avoid falling into the abyss of hate or anger?  How do we move forward and grow?  How do we lead?

I am troubled by the tragic events recently that seem to be happening everywhere. In so many cases, those who have given so much are lost and their potential contributions have been left incomplete. Frequently, the responsible individual is someone who has contributed so little. A sad reflection of our society some might say.

Yet I also see this in everyday work situations. Some individuals expend great energy putting down others, seeking to destroy those around them, and stealing from the accomplishments of others. Through direct attacks, harmful behavior or passive resistance their actions compromise the workplace.

I would suggest that we may not be able to change those people, but we can fight to move forward. We can resist the desire to hate, retaliate and instead seek to show comfort and love.

As leaders we must face the challenge to avoid vengeance by seeking truth and modeling the right practices.

Both in business and in life, we should seek to further the good and to prevent those who would tear down or destroy others from succeeding. Keep your soul and faith, nourish your Inner Core.

Pray for courage; pray for those who suffer; pray for forgiveness, and pray not to have hatred in your heart.

As Leaders, we should be called to make this reflection evident to those around us. I am certain that the faithful leaders we have lost by the acts of violence, or by internal divisiveness, would challenge all of us to stay the course and not to let someone who gave so little distract us from the bigger truth.

Love wins……and will.
