I appreciate the benefit of working out in a group or with a partner; I like the camaraderie and support, accountability, and structure. Here we are more open to have things go both ways.
But as a leader in the workplace, the dynamic of accountability can change dramatically when accountability goes both ways.
Accountability should be a shared thing. It’s two or more people holding each other accountable to agreed upon and committed to group goals and expectations. As it relates to a team, it’s the entire team, including the leader, holding each other accountable.
Does your team know you’re accountable to them? Are they engaged? Are you engaged with them?
