This is the latest album release for Consiglio-Pennington. The Song of Luke is an oratorio based on the infancy narratives of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. It is composed for narrator, soloists, choir, insturmental ensemble and dancers. John performs all the percussion in the instrumental ensemble. The major part of the text is proclaimed recitative style, the narration sung by Cyprian and the characters are sung by four fine semi-operatic soloists from around the country. There is a marvelous blend of chant styles and song forms involved, and the piece retains a gentle theme of hope throughout.

In this, their second collaboration, Consiglio and Pennington have once again drawn texts from various sacred traditions and contemporary poets, and woven them around their own unique brand of music. At the core are the soulful chanting of Cyprian and John's vast array percussion instruments--hand drums, vibraphone and marimba, mbira and shakers--skillfully blended like chamber music with piano, cello, harp and flute.
