The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health is searching for
a part-time SPECIAL EVENTS MANAGER to coordinate and support
fundraising efforts related to NLIRH's 15th anniversary celebration.
The National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NLIRH) is a
national policy advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring that
Latinas, their families and their communities have the fundamental
human right to access reproductive health services. NLIRH has offices
in NYC and Washington, DC. We would consider either location. The
anniversary event will take place October 2009, in Washington, DC.

The Special Events Manager will be part of a team, comprised of NLIRH
staff, board and an outside Public Relations (PR) firm that is
responsible for 15th anniversary event logistics and fundraising.
Individual will work closely with PR firm on event related duties and
will serve as a liaison between firm and NLIRH staff.

Specific duties include:
 Working with PR firm to coordinate event, including helping design
the structure and content of the event, overseeing design of printed
materials, contacting individual and corporate donors, management of
correspondence and mailings, dealing with VIPs and celebrities, as
well as arrangements for honorees and participants;
*  Help recruit, brief and manage volunteer staff at events. Prepare
staff scenarios.
*  Coordinate event logistics with all vendors involved. Prepare
written timelines, schedules and scenarios.
*  Schedule and conduct planning meetings and walkthroughs with vendors
and staff vendors.
*  Create agendas and follow-up notes.
*  Provide regular event reports to the Executive Director and Board of
Directors;
*  Write or coordinate all event correspondence including, requests for
sponsorships, appeals, cultivation and acknowledgments;
*   Work closely with event committee chairs and board of directors to
ensure constant communication;
Works closely with Development Associate, PR Firm, and reports
directly to Executive Director.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum three years experience working in a fast-paced fundraising/
development and/or special events environment;
Adeptness at balancing creativity with fundraising goals;
Comfort with making cold calls;
Creative, energetic and ability to troubleshoot;
Solution-oriented and positive;
Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills and
comfort with public speaking;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with diverse
constituencies, including members of the Board of Directors and donors
at all levels;
Excellent computer skills required;
Strong administrative and organizational skills, with ability to
prioritize and handle multiple complex tasks;
Willingness to travel as necessary;
Commitment to advancing reproductive justice and freedom for all
communities;
Commitment to working in diverse communities.
