Last week, my company held an Innovation Leadership Workshop. Of course we began by defining innovation. Innovation boils down to using different, but readily available ways to solve new or old problems. No need to invent something new and it’s not about doing the same old way better. As leaders, we and the teams we lead need to find and apply new approaches to new or existing problems.
Here’s an innovative idea--use your spirituality at work when solving business problems old, new or otherwise.
· Center yourself at your spiritual core. Reflect, meditate, become calm. Allow your spirit to be open to ideas or perceptions not otherwise available.
· Dedicate all of your thought to the issue or challenge. Focus. Repeatedly examine it from different aspects. Allow your unconscious to discover new insights.
· Quiet your thinking. Ponder. Be open to intuition, emotion, purpose and values. Listen to your heart.
· Persevere. Spirituality calls us to have a relationship beyond our self that helps develop the motivation needed to continue; to hang on.
Be confident that the next great solution will present itself in due time.
