Rapid change always gets our inner core agitated. Stepping from our current reality to the brighter future we want is never as easy as it first seems. As we let go of the old, we dip before we rise. I call it passing through the Valley of Despair. In today's workplace it's less a question of whether you pass through the Valley, more a question of how deep. Managing your inner core through ANE's spiritual engagement tools is the answer.
Take General Manager Bill who called me on the fourth day of his new job.
"This place isn't what I expected. I guess I made a wrong decision. Before I got here, a large conference for our global customers was announced and planned. It's three weeks from now and we have only seventeen people coming. I'm leading us into a complete disaster. I have to get out of here fast."
Bill was sinking through the Valley and heading for the management graveyard known as the Pit of Doom.
"Quitting is not the answer," I suggested. "Just think how the people in your organization feel. Focus on what you can achieve. Try my favorite affirmation. It really helps me each day when I pass through the valley.
I am strong,
Therefore I can,
Therefore I will."
"That affirmation really helped me," he said four weeks later. "I used it every day in the morning when I felt myself wavering. It made me so much stronger. We hit the phones, redesigned the program and had 150 attendees fly in. The board members all complimented me."
Do you know the Valley of Despair? Perhaps you are passing through it today. Here are more practical ideas to help you discover the Mountains of Hope.
All good to you this week.
