This past week has overflowed with examples of businesses and individuals challenged with an authenticity or truth crisis.
John 8:31-32 … So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Radio Shack has nearly been read its last rights after years, decades of losing its way consistently altering its core. Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News embellished the truth, either to lift up a veteran or in a self-serving attempt for ego/ratings. And Don Miller released Scary Close this week debuting as one of the best new releases in the market. Don details the importance of dropping pretense and “playing a role,” in order to truly connect in an authentic manner revealing who he really is at his core with amazing results.
As spiritually intentional leaders, we know that truth should be at the basis of our daily interactions, our corporate communications, and congruent with the strategic decisions of our team/organization. Ensuring that truth and authenticity are both instilled and maintained in your team is an enormous responsibility. My belief is that this cannot be established independently nor maintained consistently without the help of God, and usually God working through other people.
