What do an Egg Timer, Business Growth, “in the zone” sport performance, and your Spiritual Core have in common?  Each of them must be “wound up” or prepared to produce specific results. 

Earlier this week I purchased an egg timer to dedicate specific time to some household chores.  I rotated the timer forward a few minutes and let to go….. no alarm. I rotated it forward 45 minutes and still no alarm. Eventually after explanation from the store owner, I learned that in order to have the alarm sound, I had to rotate well past the time and then turn it back so as to “pre load” the alarm.

In business, I have vacillated between shooting to hit a specific goal and also aiming well past the goal. When aiming just at a goal, rarely have teams reached exceptional results. When shooting well past the goal, Leaders are challenged to ensure great engagement in such stretch expectations; but results can be spectacular.

In looking to bolster your Spiritual Core, you may find Biblical inspiration in passages that reference “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway…”
