As a leader, focusing can be a challenge--projects, people, timelines, deadlines, constantly pushing, sometimes rushing and always with something else in front of us.
It is easy to miss the most important things, the ones right in front of us with so many distractions. If we are unable to be in the moment, then how can we perceive the needs of our team, friends and loved ones. Yet, we must as leaders have a plan to meet future goals, planning and creating for success down the road………
Three things are important:
1. Set aside time for strategy and future opportunities
2. Focus on the here and now, especially when interacting with people, working through issues or completing projects
3. Check in with people to make sure they are doing alright--see if they need you--be sincere in that effort
If you take your eye off the present and are always looking ahead, you will slip and may even stumble and fall.
It all begins by having clarity of your mind. Take the time to mediate and to find ways to nourish your mind and soul first and routinely.
