“The Christmas Scenario” is something that happens very infrequently and has great expectations. Holiday shopping for those dear to our heart falls into this category.
It is my earnest hope that the “Annual Performance Review” does NOT fall into this category. Providing feedback should be done daily, or a minimum, weekly--certainly more than annually.
We’re tasked with getting results – and a more effective way of getting results is with relationships. And feedback (positive and negative) is a key component in the relationship of the manager and the direct report. Remember, the Creation narrative in Genesis reminds us that God paused with frequency to review and reflect.
