WHAT TO EXPECT
When upgrade begins you will need to CLOSE OUTLOOK Access to email is available during upgrade period from
https://outlook.office365.com/ – your current will be set to default and sent in Welcome Document. You can then update to a password of your choice. See instructions.
All your emails, contacts, notes, tasks, etc. will be migrated automatically by SureTech
WHAT WE RECOMMEND BEFORE UPGRADE
If you use Personal Distribution lists, Signatures and Rules, follow below to ensure those migrate:
- Personal Distribution Lists
- Signatures
- Rules
- Auto Complete (those are the remembered email addresses that populate for you) cannot migrate. If the autocomplete is pulling from contacts in your address book they can be easily found by clicking Control K in the To Field after migration and you will rebuild your Auto Complete.
- If you do not regularly create contacts in your address book start now. When you go to type an email and the name you are emailing pops up, you can right click on the send to name and click add to address book (if they are not already there).
WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN AFTER WE CONFIRM MIGRATION IS COMPLETE
Reset your smart devices - instructions here to do yourself (Can be done as soon as 2 hours after migration cut over):
- iPhone/iPad
- Android
- Reset Outlook on Local Computers PLEASE WAIT 24 HOURS POST UPGRADE TO RESET OUTLOOK
- If you have them, any local .pst files attached to your Outlook will have to be reattached manually. Any additional email accounts you view in Outlook will need to be reset in local Outlook as well. SureTech HelpDesk support is available should you need assistance with resetting any local devices after the migration.
- Your AutoComplete will have to be rebuilt in Office 365. The benefit of Office 365 is this AutoComplete will be available in any new Outlook set ups moving forward!
For both phone and outlook configurations the last month of email activity repopulates upon reconfigure. That is why above we have listed suggested time for how long after cutover it is advised to wait before reconfiguring. We will be available to assist with any configuration as needed and requested for customers. We will make certain that this migration goes smoothly.
